I live in NC and know there are different zones depending on which part of the country you live in. I would like to plant flowers in our yard but don’t really know where to begin. Is there a (good) website for beginners that will tell me when to plant certain types of flowers, how to take care of them, etc.? Something to help me get started. I would appreciate any help!

hello the best way to learn gardening is off a person who has gardened all his, her life but the bbcs website how to be a gardener with alan titchmarsh looks good
and this website shows some easy starting perenials you can grow which flower year after year also some nice grasses

Yahoo has a great website that is an interactive forum where members from all over the country, including your state and in your growing zone, discuss when to plant certain plants. The benefit, too, is that you will find other gardeners in this group who live in your growing zone that wll either send you seeds, plants and/or cuttings for SASE or will trade with you. There is a database in this large group where you can input your growing zone and/or state, and find other members who are in similar climates.

Join a garden club. Several different kinds are even better. They should be in your immediate area. Your local county extension in cooperation with your major agricultural University, I don’t watch sports, but aren’t you guys the Hoyas? So the Master Gardener course will be supplied by UNC. Immediately you would have access to zones, plants conditions needed, little tricks about growing in you area.you’ll know what you are going to the Internet to research. Hamilton Booksellers in Ct. has loads of gardening books cheap. Barnes and Nobles will order and have a book you want in a flash. Everone will want to be part of your success as a gardener if you’ll let them. Go for it: you can’t miss.
